Christ Revealed to All Nations.
The Magi: Seekers of Truth
In today’s Gospel, wise men from the East follow a star. They are foreigners, Gentiles, people outside the chosen nation of Israel. Yet they are the first to recognize Jesus as King.
This teaches us something important:
God reveals Himself to those who search sincerely.
The Magi did not know everything, but they followed the light they had. And that light led them to Christ.
👉 Faith begins when we are willing to seek God sincerely.
2. The Star: God Guides Those Who Are Open
The star represents God’s guidance.
God used what the Magi understood — astronomy — to draw them closer to Him.
God still uses different ways to guide us today:
- His Word
- our conscience
- life events
- people around us
The question is: Are we attentive to God’s guidance, or do we ignore it like Herod?
3. Herod: Fear Instead of Faith
While the Magi rejoice, Herod is troubled.
Why? Because Jesus threatens his power.
Herod represents those who fear losing control rather than welcoming God.
👉 Christ does not come to destroy us, but to rule our hearts in love.
4. The Gifts: Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh
The Magi offer gifts that reveal who Jesus is:
- Gold – Jesus is King
- Frankincense – Jesus is God
- Myrrh – Jesus is Savior who will suffer
Even at His birth, the Cross is already present.
5. They Returned by Another Route
After meeting Christ, the Magi go home by another way.
This is very important.
👉 An encounter with Jesus always changes our direction.
We cannot meet Christ and remain the same.
6. What Epiphany Means for Us Today
The Epiphany challenges us to ask:
- Are we still seeking Christ daily?
- Do we follow God’s light, even when the journey is difficult?
- What gifts do we bring to Jesus — our time, love, obedience, faith?
We too are called to be stars — to lead others to Christ by our words and actions.
Conclusion
Dear friends,
On this feast, Christ is revealed as Light for all nations.
May we, like the Magi:
- seek Him sincerely
- worship Him humbly
- offer Him our best
- and return home changed
Lord Jesus, Light of the world, guide us always to You.
Amen.
